Microphones for metal?

I am going to start singing and screaming (similarly to Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Times of Grace) because The Zen of Screaming DVD should be able to help. I need a microphone and was wanting some professional advice. I am not sure about price range cheap and good (mid-range) would be the best. $400 absolute max. Thnx soo much 4 the help.
