Why is my dad so frugal?

My father makes alot of money? He always buys houses and cars, but he doesn't want me to get a license until i'm 18 because he will have to pay for my insurance? Similarly, I asked him if he would help me pay for a car but he said we couldn't afford it. A week later he ends up buying himself a really expensive Mustang. Even if I want to go out with friends and I need a little bit of money he tells me to get a job. I always help him out at home, and I sometimes go to work with him for free. He ALWAYS wastes money on himself, and not on his fa,ily. I'm a good son I take honors and ap classes, and i have straight A's. How can I resolve this issue?
